I started on radio in 1994 with Wales first ever Urban Music station (Dock of the
Bay) which I co-founded by the one and only Kervin “Dr Feelgood” Julian. As the majority
of these programmes were on RSL’s most of those years have been spent on Specialist
Shows such as “The Love Machine” and “Cruising By”. I am Jamaican by birth and I
have traveled extensively and played around the world in cities like New York and
Kingston as I love meeting and interacting with different cultures.
Before getting into radio I was a singer and a DJ on the Pub circuit, where the
name Bobby Smooth originated from. I have worked at several jobs from duct fitting,
mechanic, coach driver, chef, travel document advisor and shelf stacker at Sainsbury.
Radio is the only job that I have never been paid for yet it is the one that I enjoy
most! I have had the pleasure of interaction with the Cardiff public over several
years and I believe that they deserve me!
When I'm not on the radio I'm fishing, playing in the clubs or gigging, I usually
go to watch my sons play rugby or just ‘veg’ out on the sofa as my partner usually
says. I also enjoy watching Discovery wildlife shows to the consternation of my children.
