Big Scott

I was born in Leicester back in the 60’s and have travelled extensively within the Armed Forces, as my father was in the RAF for 22 years. I have also visited, Cyprus, Norway, Spain and lived in most counties of the UK at one time or another. A bit of a nomad really! I come from a very multi-cultural family which is a mix of Antiguan, Irish, Scottish and English heritage. A bit of a Heinz 57 really!

I moved to Harlech, on the west coast of Wales, back in 1999 (only for a year) with only one aim. To study and gain some form of qualification in Radio. I was struggling to get real Radio stations in the UK to take an interest in me, as I had no recognized qualifications. This was because I had pushed my way onto a pirate radio station ‘Fresh FM’ in Leicester, back in the mid 90’s. I just did what felt best, which was to talk to people and play good tunes. From then on I was hooked and the local community loved the chat shows used to call me Uncle T!

In order to achieve the Welsh Diploma I had to move into Coleg Harlech accommodation and attend the Drama Course. The course concentrated on TV & Documentary Production, Sound, Lighting and Stage Management within Theatre and a bit of acting too. They allowed me to add a Radio module and I was voted Entertainments Manager by the Students. I achieved the Diploma and was in the last course of the Millennium!

After finishing College I moved to Aberystwyth and became part of the Arts Centre Technical team by day and a DJ by night. I have presented on various hospital and local radio stations around Wales, London and Leicester.

I came to Cardiff in late 2007 and has been finding my way around the Capital for the last 4 years.

My show is of a magazine style. Full of facts (some useful,) debates, interviews, free events, competitions and give-aways. It’s a must listen show, if you want to hear Reggae, Soul, Funk, R&B, Motown, Blues and much more from over the decades and around the globe.
